Inspection and Permitting

One of the functions of Plymouth Fire-Rescue is to provide fire prevention to the public and workplaces of the town.  The goal of fire prevention is to minimize or prevent loss of life and property from fire or other emergencies through inspection and engineering.  To achieve that goal Plymouth Fire-Rescue:

  • performs plans review for building permits,

  • site inspections and pre-planning for new construction and renovations,

  • existing residential and commercial fire inspections and pre-planning,

  • inspection of oil and liquid propane gas (L.P.G.) installations,

  • issuing blasting and hot works permits.

  • consultation regarding issues such as emergency generator installation and use.  

In 2018 Plymouth Fire-Rescue performed 142 Life Safety Inspections and issued 110 Oil Burner/LP Gas Permits.  

Please be advised that you must secure a permit from Plymouth Fire-Rescue before installing any oil or L.P.G. tanks or appliances. Applications can be found below.
